Teenager’s murder: Cops rely on DNA tests

Hyderabad, December 25: Police are relying on DNA tests to ascertain the identity of the teenager who was killed and his body parts were dismembered.

Even as police are toiling hard to crack the mystery behind the murder of a 25-year-old woman whose body was stuffed in a suitcase and left at Mehdipatnam in August this year, the boy’s legs and torso were found stuffed in plastic bags at Sultan Bazar and Narayanaguda respectively, two days ago. The only clue police have to identify the victim, supposed to be around 16 years, is presence of six toes on his right leg.

A DNA test would be performed on a watchman from the city to ascertain whether the body of the youngster was of his missing son and police hope it would help them in unravelling the mystery behind the murder.

“Two families approached us suspecting the body might be of their missing kin who are of the same age. The missing boys also have six toes,” Narayanaguda police inspector Gandhi Narayana said.

However, after examining the parts, one of the two families, belonging to Mahabubnagar, told police that they do not belong to their son. The other family is that of Arjun Singh, a watchman from Narayanaguda, who son, Rakesh, went missing on Saturday last. “We have sent the blood samples of Arjun Singh for matching with DNA of the victim,” Gandhi Narayana said. Rakesh also has six toes on his right leg.

The results are likely to come in a week.
