On Saturday, at Rajendranagar, a fifteen year-old girl, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after she was forced to live with her husband by her family .She was forcibly married off to a 30-year-old relative.
The victim was identified as N Nandeswari from Rajendranagar. Her father had died when she was a kid and later her mother throw out Nandeswari from her life. Nandeswari, a class X student at a local school in Rajendranagar area, was brought up by her uncle Nageswar Rao, an employee of HMWS&SB.
Four months back, Rao’s sister Andal took Nandeswari with her and performed her marriage against her will with a 30-year-old relative Krishna, a widower, at Yadgirigitta.
A month ago, Nandeswari came back to her uncle’s house in Rajendranagar and refused to go back to Krishna’s house. However, Andal kept on visiting Nandeswari and enforced her to go back to Krishna.
On Saturday night, unable the bear torture caused by the relatives, Nandeswari set herself in flames using kerosene.
She was immediately taken to Osmania Hospital and succumbed on Sunday.
A case was registered against the relatives and family members of Nandeswari under section 306 (Abetment to commit suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
