New Delhi: An 18-year-old boy was thrashed to death by six youths, including a juvenile, following an argument over a petty issue at a camp near Okhla Industrial Area of southeast Delhi.
The incident happened on Monday last after which the boy identified as Suraj Kumar was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
Police have arrested one of the accused identified as Raja and filed a case of murder registered against him and his associates. Search is on to trace the other accused, said a senior police official.
“Suraj had an argument with his neighbours, Akshay and Raja over blocking a lane outside their hutment following which the accused attacked him with stones and iron rods. Hearing screams of Suraj, his brother tried to intervene and he was also thrashed. They then fled from the spot,” said the official.
Suraj was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where underwent a surgery and succumbed to the injuries yesterday morning. His body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy.
During interrogation, Raja told the investigators that Suraj often abused him and his friend Akshay and that they killed him in a fit of rage.
Police are now in look out for other accused.
Suraj stayed with his two siblings at the Indira Camp after their parents passed away three years ago. He was pursuing his BA from a south Delhi college and had also taken up a job to look after his brothers.
