Bhopal,September 05 :Twenty first century is throwing a new concept in marriage market many countries have regularised Gay and Lesbian marriages and now a young 14 years old teenager, who claimed mystic appearance of a snake in her dreams, got married to a nonexistent reptile.
Normal Hindu rituals were followed during the marriage at Rohna Kala village of Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district, 290 km from Bhopal.The unusual marriage of 14- year- old Anjali, daughter of Sampat Bhalawi, took place on Saturday with more than 400 guests and family members attending the one- hour ceremony.
A Class VIII student, Anjali covered her head with a red scarf for the ceremony and was seen sitting for almost an hour in the village snake temple as priests chanted hymns to complete the ritual.
She offered water, lit joss sticks and offered flowers in front of the snake statue.
After the rituals, Anjali expressed her desire to return home. But after spending some time at home, she returned to the temple and told her family that, if allowed, she would like to spend much of her time there. “ Often a snake used to appear in my dreams. He used to tell me that I am his wife and I should marry him,” Anjali told mediapersons.
Sometime ago, she told about her dream to her family. When Anjali’s father disclosed this to village elders, they reportedly told them to organise a wedding ceremony.The village is 8 km from the district headquarters, Chindwara.
