Baghpat: An 18-year-old boy and his girlfriend allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train after they faced resistance to their relationship from their families, police said today.
The body of Jyoti (18), who had gone out on the pretext of seeing TV at a neighbour’s house last night, and her boyfriend Kuldeep were recovered from near Badaut-Budhana railway crossing this morning, they said.
Jyoti, studying in a local college, was in a relationship with Kuldeep, who worked in a chemist shop, and recently the two had expressed their desire to get married which was turned down by their respective families, police said.
Prima facie it appears that the two had jumped before the Delhi-bound train to commit suicide, police said, adding the bodies have been sent for postmortem.
