A fourteen-year-old boy in a Chhattisgarh village allegedly raped and then killed a 4-year-old girl of his neighbour to settle family rivalry, police said on Sunday. The gruesome incident came to light when the decomposed body of the kid was retrieved in the sugar-cane field on the outskirt of village of Mohangaon in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district by the locals on Sunday morning.
“We cracked the case after detaining a minor, a resident of the village, suspecting his hand in the crime. He has admitted his hand in the chilling murder of the girl,” the investigating officer said.
According to him, there was a long-running difference of opinion between two families in the village over land settlement. The accused, a member of one of the family wanted to teach the other family a lesson by abducting their baby girl.
According to a Police Officer, “On January 22 evening, the boy enticed the kid to the outskirt of the village promising her to feed sugarcane. He then took her to the sugarcane field where he raped her.
He strangulated her to death when she s screamed. He then dumped her body in the field”. The next day the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the police stating abduction of their child. The vicious rape and murder of the child has sent chill down the spines of locals.
