Washington, December 11: A British teenager admitted today to pouring bleach over a mother-of-two who had asked him and his friends to be quiet in a cinema on July 26.
The 16-year-old walked up to Annette Warden, 46, in a restaurant and squirted the corrosive liquid over her head as she was having a meal with her family, a UK court heard.
“I was terrified and at the same time scared for my children,” Ms Warden said in a statement read in court.
Ms Warden, her husband and their children had been watching Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince at a movie theatre when she asked the defendant and his friends to lower their voices and turn off their phones, before calling for a cinema attendant to help.
Later, as Ms Warden’s family went into a nearby restaurant, the defendant leaned out of a car and swore at her before going to a nearby service station to buy the bleach.
He was then driven back to the entertainment complex where he went straight into the restaurant and squirted the liquid over her head.
She received hospital treatment for chemical burns to her face but was not seriously injured.
The 16-year-old defendant has admitted causing Warden actual bodily harm but denies the more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
The case continues.
