Hyderabad, August 13: One person died of severe burns in a chemical blast that occurred in one of the units of IDL factory located in the Kukatpally industrial area.
B Janardhan (57) was a technician in the IDL unit that manufactures detonators.
“The blast took place at 1.30 p.m where no one except Janardhan is allowed to enter,” Kukatpally SI S Pradeep told Express.
Janardhan worked on a specialised machine used for making detonators, police said. During the explosion, a chemical got sprinkled on Janardhan, causing severe burns. However, there was no fire mishap, the police said. “We are yet to ascertain the reasons for the explosion,” Pradeep said.
