Technical glitch in 500MW KTPS forces power cuts in TS

Power generation at Bhupalpally power plant in Warangal has been stopped after the failure of boiler tube said the TSGenco Director (Thermal) M Achutanandam, which is going to affect the continuity of power in the T state.

Moreover the Technical glitch in 500-MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (KTPS) has compelled the power utilities to impose unscheduled power outages in many parts of Telangana State on Wednesday.

The power demand at the peak hours was 140 MU (million units) and the supply has been reduced to 132 MU only. To bridge the gap, power cut has been imposed in the district for one to two hours in the day time, an official said.

This summer T state will going to suffer a frequent power cuts down as power generating capacity in the region is less than half of region’s demand for power.
