Techie found dead at home

Hyderabad, February 08: A software engineer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence at Chikkadpally on Sunday. The deceased’s family members alleged that her husband had murdered her for additional dowry.

The deceased, K Sridevi (24) works as a software engineer in a private firm at Nampally. She fell in love with another software engineer at her workplace, 28-year-old Ravi and they got married nine months back. The couple living at a rented accommodation in Chikkadpally.

On Saturday night, Ravi called up his brother-in-law, Raghavendra and informed that Sridevi was seriously ill and asked him to come immediately.

By the time Raghavendra reached the couple’s house, Sridevi was dead. They, however, did not tell about the death of Sridevi to her parents at first but informed them late in the night.

On Sunday, Srinivas lodged a complaint with Chikkadpally police alleging that Ravi was responsible for his sister’s death as he was harassing her for dowry.

“We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the woman’s death. There are some minor injuries near her face and neck. We are awaiting the post-mortem report to come to a conclusion,’’ Chikkadpally police sub-inspector G Balaraju said. On complaint by Srinivas, police registered a case under Section 304B (dowry death) against Ravi, who is absconding.
