Tearful adieu to Dharmabhiksham

Nalgonda, March 28: The funeral of veteran CPI leader and freedom fighter B. Dharmabhiksham, who died in Hyderabad on March 26, took place in Suryapet in the district on Sunday.

The body was brought from Hyderabad, where it was kept at the State party office, Makhdoom Bhavan, for people to pay their respects.

Many party activists and members of the toddy tappers’ organisations, which was headed by him, were present.

The party cadres gave a red salute to the departed leader as his grieving family members, relatives and friends looked on.

Minister for Infrastructure, K. Venkat Reddy, CPI leaders S. Sudhakar Reddy and K. Narayana, MPs, K. Rajagopal and G. Sukhender Reddy, MLAs K. Damodar Reddy, Bikshapathy and J. Ranga Reddy and TDP leader T. Devender Goud were among those present.

Dharmabhiksham represented Suryapet, Nakrekal and Nalgonda Assembly constituencies and Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat.

Hyderabad Special Correspondent adds: Leaders of all political parties paid floral tributes to Bommagani Dharmabhiksham who breathed his last on Saturday.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy led the parties in mourning the death of the veteran leader. The Chief Minister visited Makhdoom Bhavan, the CPI State headquarters, where the body of the departed leader was kept, and offered his tributes.

He recalled the services of the senior left leader and hailed his contribution for the uplift of downtrodden and working class, particularly the toddy tappers.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu were among others who paid their tributes.
