Kurnool, April 10: Hundreds of locals and neighbouring villages thronged Orvakallu in the district today to catch a last glimpse of Chandramouleeswara Reddy, CRPF jawan killed in the Maoist ambush at Dantewada, three days ago. His body was brought to the village in a special vehicle from Dantewada. His relatives, friends and the locals broke down immediately after seeing the body.
Reddy’s body was buried with official honours at 11 a.m. today in theagriculture fields amid slogans like `Orvakallu muddu bidda amar hai’. Policepaid gun salute while the officials and locals paid floral tributes before burying the body.
District Collector Ram Sankar Naik, additional joint collector Lakshmi Kantham, additional SP Ravindra Naik, Kurnool RDO Balaiah, CRPF DIG Purendra Prasad, CRPF officer Krishnaiah, local CI Janardhan Naidu, SIs Srinath Reddy,Nagaraa Rao also paid tributes to Reddy. TDP general secretary B RajasekharaReddy, DCC secretary Prabhakar Reddy and several other political leadersconsoled Reddy’s wife and children.
The district Collector said the Centre has announced Rs 38 lakh besides otherbenefits to the bereaved family. He said that free-education would be provided to victim’s children and special pension would be given to Reddy’s wife. CRPF DIG Purendra Prasad said the benefits would be given to the family at the earliest.
