Hyderabad, April 13 (Siasat News): Two member team of National Minority Commission was in the city to have an on the spot stock of the damaged condition of the mosques, temples and Gau shala during communal riots broke out a fortnight ago.
Sardar Harvinder Singh Hanspal and Mohtarma Syeda Imam Bilgrami were given a warm welcome at the airport on their arrival.
From there they straight drove to the lake view guest House where the minister for minority welfare Mr. Ahmaduullah, chief Secretary Mr. S V Prasad and city police commissioner Mr. A K Khan and other officials were present and had a detailed discussion on Hyderabad.
Later, the members of the Commission went to old city where the areas were badly affected by the recent riots such as Puranapul, Moosa Bowli, Husseini Alam, Begum Bazar, and Shahalibnda etc. The members of peace committee also accompanied the Commission members.
A mutawali of Masjid Mahmoodiya said that during the last 30 years, this mosque was targeted for the second time, as the Muslim population in the area is very thin. The team also visited Masjid Kolsawadi, Siddiamber Bazar and the Gaushala of Shamshergunj, which was partially destroyed by the hoodlums.
On this, the members of the commission urged to furnish them with the list of names of those who are arrested. The members also enquired about the Muslim youths who are allegedly arrested by the police for no fault of theirs. Ironically, when the team members enquired about the exact losses incurred due to the riots especially to the minorities, no one was in a position to answer them perfectly.
On this, the members of the Commission directed them to submit a report of the losses incurred by tomorrow.
According to the schedule, M/s Imam Bilgrami and Sardar Hanspal Singh will be meeting the governor today and they are likely to meet the Chief Minister too.
It is also said that the Commission is sincerely having thoughts of conducting public grievances hearing in connection with the communal riots.
