Team Anna aimless became a hero, overnight

*Inconsistent and making remarks like “drunkards”
Chennai, January 15: Political Analyst Cho S Ramasamy has hit out at “Team Anna” for being aimless and inconsistent in their fight against corruption and called Kiran Bedi as a “cheer girl” in the team.

Addressing the 42nd anniversary function of “Thuglak”, the political magazine edited by him here last night, Mr Cho said Anna Hazare, who launched a fight against corruption, became a hero, overnight, thanks to the media hype.

However, as no issue, coming into prominence due to media hype would not survive, team Anna’s fight against corruption too fizzled out in no time, Mr Cho said.

They could not carry out the struggle as charges were levelled against Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and Shanti Bushan, who are the members of the team.

Mr Cho, who was sharing dais with senior BJP leader L K Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, took serious exception to Anna Hazare being called as Gandhian.

“Just because he wore a Gandhi cap, he cannot be called a Gandhian,” Mr Cho criticised the “crusador” as Superstar Rajnikanth, who was seated in the front row, squirmed in his seat.

The Superstar had offered his Marriage hall in the city, free of cost, for Mr Hazare’s supporters to observe fast for three days, expressing solidarity with Mr Hazare who observed fast fast in Mumbai with his supporters.

Mr Cho ridiculed Hazare for being inconsistent and making remarks like “drunkards should be tied to trees and beaten up” and he would go to the border if India wages a war against Pakistan. “Even I can go, but who will take us,” the comedian turned politician said amid loud cheers.

“He (Hazare) announces indefinite fast and calls off the fast in two days. He says he will campaign against the Congress and withdraws his threat on the other day,” Mr Cho said.
Mr Hazare could not do what Jayaprakash Narayan could not achieve, the Political analyst said.

Peels of laughter broke out, when Mr Cho called Kiran Bedi as “cheer girl” in Team Anna. “Her only job is to hold a national flag and dance on the dais,” Cho said.

“They all started blabbering and television channels vied with each other in promoting them,” he said and quoted self-styled Godman Sri Sri Ravi Shankar having said that he only encouraged Hazare to hold the fast in Delhi.

As Hazare’s campaign against corruption fizzled out and Team Anna ended up the struggle, giving an impression that one could not fight against corruption and emerge victorious, he said.
