India against Corruption, Hyderabad Chapter has informed today that Mr Arvind Kejriwal, along with Team Anna members Mrs. Kiran Bedi and Mr Gopal Rai, will address a public meeting at 5 p.m. on June 13, at Wesley College Grounds, Secunderabad.
Addressing the media here, Dr Ramkumar Tiwari, Member, and others said that the citizens of this country were deceived into believing that they will get the Lokpal Bill, with the three main demands of Team Anna, by the Prime Minister. On this belief, Anna Hazare withdrew the fast on the night of August 27, 2011 when Mr.Vilas Rao Deshmukh had brought an assurance in writing, from the P.M, that a strong Lokpal will be passed.
The bill is being tossed around in the Parliament from one committee to another – latest being a select committee! It seems there is a deliberate ploy to delay the Lokpal bill by passing it around to different committees, and even if it sees the light of the day, we may get to see a very weak Lokpal Bill with the head, hands and legs chopped off from the main text of the original Janlokpal bill which was proposed by Team Anna and agreed to in principle by the Prime Minister and his team of Ministers.
They said now the issue has come to such a point that it is a do or die situation for the citizens of this country. And it is in this context that Team Anna has taken upon itself a Nation-wide tour to impress upon the citizens as to how corruption has ruined the country. With the Lokpal bill being delayed umpteen number of times for reasons best known to the government, Team Anna has decided to go for an indefinite fast (Anshan), 45 days from now, on July 25, 2012, which will be launched throughout the country.
They demanded the setting up of fast track courts to decide such heinous offenses involving top Ministers / officials and get them to book within six months and pronounce judgments. At the same time Team Anna has also offered to undergo double the punishment if they are guilty in any offence, they added.(NSS)
