Hyderabad, September 06: Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of A.P. stressed the need for the teachers to raise the standard of the students. He said that the standard of education at the primary level is deteriorating. Regarding the apprenticeship system he said that he will try to simplify this scheme or abolish it. He further said that some teachers have no interest in their profession. He stressed the need for the teachers to rededicate themselves to their profession.
The Chief Minister told that due to the introduction of internet, TV and I.T, the knowledge of the students is increasing. It has become necessary for the teachers to adjust themselves to the needs of the students. He also said that is necessary to promote self confidence among the students. He pointed out that parents prefer to send their children to private schools. Govt. is spending Rs. 2500 crore to raise the standard of education in schools. He also said that some parents are forcing their children to opt for medical and engineering courses against their wishes. Instead of it, the parents should allow them to choose their own career. He mentioned that the Govt. is concentrating on the improvement of Health, education and employment opportunities. It is spending Rs. 3500 crore on the tuition fees and scholarships for Minority students. Some institutions are not providing basic imfrastructure in engineering colleges.
He said that every year 1.5 lakh students are graduating from colleges but only 16% of them are getting jobs. Under Rajiv Yuva Karnah scheme, the Govt. intends to provide jobs to 5 lakh candidates. Reaching to the suggestion made by Mr. Chukka Ramaiah regarding the abolishon apprenticeship scheme, the Chief Minister said that it is not possible to abolish it immediately. He said that he will review this system. On this occasion, he presented best teacher awards to 200 school teachers. Present on this occasion were Mr. Damodhar Rajiv Narasimha, Dy. Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Mr. M. parthsarathy, Minister for school education, Mr. M.G. Gopal, Secretary, High Education and other officials.
