Kuwait, July 07: The Teachers’ Association with the Public Authority of Applied Education and Training (PAAET) has criticized the installation of a closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera in the PAAET’s Faculty of Medical Sciences to monitor one of the professors while he delivered a lecture to students there.
Raed Al-Saleh, the Deputy of the Association, announced that its members fully support the professor’s decision to take legal action over the incident, adding that the association will take all the necessary legal measures in order to prevent such “misconduct” from recurring. He further described the use of the CCTV camera as a direct violation of respect for the whole educational process, while emphasizing the fact that the association was not informed beforehand about the installation of the camera. He s
aid that this indicates shortcomings in the performance of the concerned directorates which were supposed to supervise the operation, reported Al-Watan.
Al-Saleh condemned such acts, saying that they indicate the educational authorities’ lack of faith in the professors and adding that the association will be pursuing the issue with the PAAET’s senior administration in order to determine the details of the incident and hold those responsible to account. He emphasized that he would not tolerate any doubt being cast on the teachers, who make an immeasurably great contribution to providing society with essential qualities that aid in the nation’s development.
