Teachers climb on TV tower, threaten to commit suicide

Dehra Dun, November 10: Two contractual school teachers climbed on a Doordarshan tower near the state assembly and threatened today to commit suicide if their demand for regularization of job is not accepted by the government by tomorrow evening.

The primary teachers are agitating for the past one year pressing for regularization of their jobs.

President of Shiksha Acharya Association Puran Singh Rawat is among the two who climbed on the tower and rejected an appeal by the administration to come down.

In a piece of paper, which Rawat dropped this evening, said they would not come down till a written assurance is given to them.

Rawat also threatened that they would end their lives by consuming poison or burning themselves if their demands are not accepted by 1700 hrs tomorrow.
