Teacher held for ‘rape’, abduction of minor girl student

Hyderabad: A teacher was today arrested in Nalgonda district for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl student of his school, police said.

Based on information, a police team raided a lodge in Suryapet town of the district in Telangana, around 100 km from here, and caught the accused, Nageswar Rao, with the girl, a class X student, they said.

Earlier, the minor’s parents approached Suryapet police and lodged a complaint alleging their daughter had been abducted by her school teacher, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Suryapet Sub-Division) Mohammed Abdul Rashid told PTI by phone.

He said police caught Rao, who is in his 30s, at the lodge along with the teenager and later put him under arrest.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under IPC Sections related to kidnapping, wrongful confinement and rape, and also Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, against the teacher, Rashid said.

An officer associated with the probe said Rao was already married and has two children.

“He allegedly had an affair with the girl for the past one year. The girl has been sent for medical examination,” he said, adding further probe was on.
