Acrimonious scenes were witnessed between members of TDP and YSRCP in the Assembly during the debate on Telangana bill.
As the members indulged in allegations and counter allegations, the Speaker adjourned the House for ten minutes.
YSRCP member Bhumana Karunakar Reddy continued his speech targeting TDP chief and Leader of the Opposition Nara Chandrababu Naidu while Congress and TDP members criticized the YSRCP members. At this stage, the YSRCP members rushed to the Speaker’s podium and staged protests.
Karunakar Reddy reiterated that his party was totally against bifurcation of the State and a Samaikhya resolution moved in the House. In spite of the YSRCP being an Opposition party, other parties were treating our party as an enemy. False propaganda is being spread against our party saying that YSRC is supporting bifurcation. “Late YSR was the first person to support Samaikhyandhra. We are supporting Samaikhyandhra for the larger interest of the State and there would be no injustice to Telangana if the State remained undivided, he said.
Alleging that the TDP was following “two eyes policy”, the YSRCP member said the TDP members should ask Chandrababu Naidu to make a statement on Samaikhyandhra. On this comment, the TDP MLAs raised strong objection. Continuing his speech, Karunakar Reddy alleged that the House was being misled by saying that late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had made a statement in support of Telangana.
He quoted some important statements of late YSR when Rosaiah Committee was constituted and had asked it to study the recommendation of that committee. Leveling false allegation against YSR, some parties are trying to gain politically, he said. Indirectly referring to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, YSRCP member said even the yet to be formed new party also targeting us.
When TDP members raised objection to his speech, YSRCP member said in the ensuing elections, TDP’s position would be “ Govinda”. TDP is wasting its time just for leveling charges against our party leader Jagan, he said.
Raising strong objection to this, TDP member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy said it was Jagan, who asked the Centre to bifurcate the State under Article 3 of the Constitution. He recalled that YSR had made an announcement in the Assembly supporting formation of Telangana State in principle. “Though our’s is a two eyes policy, but we have only one vision. YSRCP’s stand is “walkout and talk out, he added.
Legislative Affairs Minister Sailajanath said the YSRCP was in favour of State bifurcation. He recalled the instances of talking in favour of Telangana by YS Jagan, Y S Vijayamma and YSRC leaders. Sailajanath said Karunakar Reddy used an unparliamentary word. But Karunakar Reddy said he did not use any unparliamentary word against Sailajanath.
TDP member Dullipalla Narendra asked whether Jagan had not taken signatures of MLAs for chief minister post. It was YSRC party which had a match-fixing with Congress. Why did not YSRCP come forward for Samaikhyandhra”, he asked and alleged that the people are laughing at the attitude and stand of YSRC party.
At this stage, the House was adjourned for ten minutes. (NSS)
