TDP workers taken into custody

Hyderabad, March 17: About 100 workers of Telugu Desam Party were on Wednesday taken into custody when they staged a sit-in in front of the city Police Commissioner’s office here demanding withdrawal of cases booked against party’s corporators.

TDP’s two corporators, S Srinivas Reddy and Bhanu Prasad, and an ex-corporator Dinesh Yadav were arrested by the police in connection with the “attack” on a group of pro-Telangana lawyers on March 6 here resulting in injuries to seven lawyers.

The TDP activists were taken into preventive custody when they staged the sit-in before the Police Commissioner’s office in the busy Basheerbagh locality, which led to traffic jam, Narayanguda police said.

Following their arrests, the TDP corporators and the ex-corporator had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking bail, which had rejected their plea in the case.
