Tension prevailed in Boorgupalli village of Karimnagar district following a clash between the TDP workers and pro-Telangana activists during TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra.
Tension began when Naidu’s padayatra, which entered sixth day in Karimnagar on Thursday, was intercepted by pro-Telangana activists in Boorgupalli village of Gangadhara mandal. They raised slogans demanding that Naidu expresses his stand on the Telangana issue. However, they were confronted by the TDP activities resulting in both groups pelting stones at each other.
Sensing that the situation might go out of control, police intervened and used mild force to disperse the agitated mob. More 20 activists from both sides were taken into custody.
Later, addressing a meeting at Gangadhara, Naidu alleged that the some activists were behaving were like rowdies. He said that the TDP has already clarified its stand on the statehood issue and now it was the Congress party which has to take a stand on Telangana. He also alleged that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was afraid of TDP’s popularity and therefore, he has been targeting the party on all occasions.
