Former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the TDP, after returning to power, would seize the lands encroached upon by the Congress leaders.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday after participating in a campaign in Tirupati constituency where the bye-election was going to be held on June 12, Naidu alleged that the Congress was conducting political business in Tirupati constituency.
He also alleged that the Congress candidate contesting from Tirupati Venkata Ramana is known for grabbing lands in the name of benamis. Naidu inspected the encroached land beside the Tirupati-Tiruchanuru main road, said to be grabbed by Venkata Ramana.
Naidu enquired with the local people and former sarpanch of the Tiruchanuru about the details of the lands said to be grabbed by Venkata Ramana. He lambasted the Tiruapti Congress leaders for encroaching valuable lands by changing revenue records of the temple town.
Alleging that the ruling party leaders were grabbing the lands across the State without any fear, he said that the Congress leaders were encroaching upon not only the government lands but also the lands of poor people.
Later, Naidu left for Hyderabad. (NSS)
