TDP Urges Guv to ensure better power supply

Alleging scheduled and unscheduled power cuts in the State causing severe damage to standing crops, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Friday urged the Governor to review the situation with the Transco, Genco and Discom officials and ensure there are no unscheduled power cuts at the field level.
In a letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan today, Ramakrishnudu stated, “The State has been going through acute shortage of electricity. There are scheduled power cuts to the extent of 12 hours in rural areas, but in practice there are many unscheduled power cuts going beyond the stipulated power cuts. As a result, the crops are drying up and the people in rural areas are suffering a lot due to these unprecedented irregular and shortage of power supply.
“Through, it has been reported that the Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Station has been commissioned with 800 MW capacity, it is regretted to say there is no relief to the public from power cuts. The old people and children in the villages are the worst sufferers due to the rising temperatures coupled with the acute shortage and irregular power supply during this summer. The drinking water supply is also getting affected due to the non-availability of power supply for operating the motors of domestic and the public water supply schemes. (NSS)
