Hyderabad, January 04: The Telugu Desam Party seems likely to skip the January 6 meeting being convened by the Centre in Delhi on the Telangana issue.
The Telangana TDP Forum (TTDPF) is set to meet here tomorrow and request TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu not to send any representative from the party to the Delhi meeting.
TTDPF convenor N Janardhan Reddy held preliminary discussions with the party MLAs and a full meeting will be convened tomorrow.
If TDP toes the line of TRS, it would be a face-saving move for the party in the region.
Meanwhile, law students from Nizam college called on Naidu at his residence today and requested him not to send any leader to the meeting. Naidu told them that he would discuss the issue with other parties and take a decision.
By skipping the meeting, TDP is trying to lob the ball into the Congress court, which has so far tried to elicit the views of other parties without declaring its stand.
TDP has already made it clear that if the presidents were invited to the all-party meeting, Naidu along with AICC president Sonia Gandhi could attend and solve the long pending issue.
