The TDP has suspended MLA Praveen Kumar Reddy of Tamballapalli constituency in Chittoor district, after he reportedly met the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the Chanchalguda jail.
The party said in a release here Tuesday that the action was taken against the MLA for anti-party activities.
The MLA has already announced his decision to quit the party when Chandra Babu Naidu wrote a letter to the Prime Minister asking for an all-party meeting to be called on the Telangana issue. The MLA from Chandra Babu Naidu’s district has strongly protested against his chief taking a pro-Telangana stand without consulting any one. He
has already met Jagan in the jail and reports were doing the rounds that he was about to join the YSRCP. TDP leaders have criticized him stating that he had already made up is mind to join the Jagan bandwagon and was taking just an excuse under the Telangana issue to leave the party.
Today, Praveen Kumar Reddy has once again met Jagan in the jail, and TDP has immediately suspended him. It is now learnt that he would join the YSRCP in a day or two.
A month back when Naidu wrote the letter on Telangana issue, Praveen has lambasted him before the media. He said because of the wrong policies of Naidu, the condition of TDP was deteriorating.
Stating that because of the decision of Naidu on Telangana, leaders of both the other regions got suffocated, he said he had come out into the open as there were others simmering with anger. He said apart from creating more confusion, Babu’s letter had served no other purpose. He has questioned about the need for the TDP to give a
fresh letter when the Congress which has the responsibility to decide the ‘T’ issue was silent. He has also asked Naidu why he had not responded when the statue of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy in the KBR park of Hyderabad was demolished and the Telangana
activists took out a March.
Stating that late N T Rama Rao has launched the TDP only to unite all the Telugus,
Praveen Kumar Reddy has suggested that the ideal should be stuck to. Stating that he had
no objection if the party changed its policy, the young legislator has lamented that pro-
Naidu media was writing that he would join the YSRCP.
It may be mentioned that another TDP MLA Amaranath Reddy has also strongly
criticized the party chief. Reports say that he was also likely to join the YSR Congress
shortly.
