The opposition Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party today announced that its members would stall the proceedings of Parliament on the first-day of the coming session in protest against supply of gas from Krishna-Godavari Basin to Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra at the cost of the power plants in Andhra Pradhes. The supply of gas to Maharashtra will push the power-starved state into deeper crisis, he alleged.
The decision was taken during the TDLP meeting held at NTR Trust Bhavan here under the chairmanship of party President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
During the meeting, a resolution was also passed to question the government on gas allotment to other states from the K G Basin, unmindful of the severe power crises in the state. The TDLP said it would lead a delegation of party MPs to New Delhi to present memoranda to Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who hails from Andhra Pradesh and Incharge Union Power Minister Verappa Moily on gas allotment to Maharashtra from the KG Basin. The TDP Parliamentary Party also decided to refrain from participating in Vice Presidential polls. It is to be mention here that the TDP has also away from participating in the recent Presidential elections.
The TDPP has also demanded that the government must install a statue of TDP Founder N T Rama Rao at Parliament Bhavan. UNI
