TDP to set up ntr welfare fund to help kin of farmers; Errabelli asks KCR to resign

The Telugu Desam Party has set up a special “NTR Welfare Fund” to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families of farmers, who committed suicide under unbearable circumstances.

Disclosing this to the media in the NTR Trust Bhavan here on Tuesday, Telangana TDP president L. Ramana said the party has decided to set up the special fund with a corpus of Rs 2 crores. He said they would disburse Rs 50,000 to each family of the deceased farmers.

Stating that they would tour all the districts in the Telangana State, Ramana said they would launch the program from the Medak district. He also said philanthropists and others can donate funds to the NTR Welfare Fund.

Speaking on the occasion, another T TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said a criminal case should be filed against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as distressed farmers were killing themselves in despair. Stating that farmers were losing heart and committing suicides due to the criminal negligence of the Telangana government, he alleged that KCR did not care even to console the kin of the farmers. He also demanded that the KCR government pay Rs 10 lakh ex gratia and compensation of Rs 30,000 per acre for the crop loss. (NSS)
