TDP seeks panel on illegal projects on Godavari

Hyderabad, May 14: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded the State government to exert pressure on the Centre to constitute an experts committee on the issue of illegal projects taken up by Maharashtra on river Godavari.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, party leaders N. Janardhan Reddy and E. Dayakar Rao requested Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to form experts committee so that it could go into the loss to the Telangana region, if the illegal projects were completed.

A delegation of TDP would also meet Central Water Commission (CWC) to impress upon it to stop Maharashtra from going ahead with illegal projects, as they would turn five Telangana districts depending on Sriramsagar Project built across Godavari into desert.

They also questioned the sincerity of the government on Telangana projects stating that Ichampally project was neglected all the way.
