TDP seeks increase in turmeric MSP

Telugu Desam party whip Dhulipala Narendra on Tuesday slammed the State Government for its failure to rescue turmeric farmers who are in a pathetic condition due to government’s failure to announce appropriate Minimum Support Price for their produce.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Dhulipala Narendra said that the turmeric farmers have been incurring heavy losses due to manifold increase in the input costs. He said the farmers were forced to end their lives due to their inability to clear the debts. He appealed to the government to increase the MSP for turmeric from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 per quintal and support them financially.

Narendara said that the government, which projects itself to be a ‘champion of farmers,’ should take farmer-friendly steps and respond on their issues promptly. MLA P Pulla Rao was also present in the conference. (INN)
