Hyderabad, April 17: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu today requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the authorities concerned to arrange for enumerating the population statistics of Bacward Classes.
In a letter to the Prime Minister today, Naidu said that the enumeration of BCs would help in future policy-making for amelioration of their social and economic conditions.
He said that the issue of providing reservations and other benefits to the Backward Classes was often becoming a contentious issue due to lack of reliable data on population of these groups. The proposed 2011 census operations offer an excellent opportunity to build up database on population of Backward Classes in the country, Naidu said.
