TDP ready for polls, hopeful of fresh mandate, says Naidu

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said that his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was ready for simultaneous elections to the state Assembly and Lok Sabha.

He was speaking after the Election Commission announced that the state would go to polls in a single phase on April 11. Votes will be polled for all 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Hours after the announcement of poll schedule, Naidu told a news conference here that he was confident that the people would give fresh mandate to his TDP.

The TDP chief said his government worked effectively during last five years, despite the Centre not fulfilling its promises and the problems created by neighbouring Telangana.

Naidu listed out all the achievements of his government, saying the per capita income was doubled during last five years. He claimed that in no other state the income of farmers increased by 128 percent.
