TDP promises to pay Rs 50,000 each for Telangana ‘martyrs’ family

In a move that could draw the ire of Election Commission, the Telugu Desam Party on Saturday announced that it would pay Rs 50,000 to the families of youth who committed suicide demanding statehood for Telangana region.

Talking to reporters at Assembly media point, Telugu Desam Party senior leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu said that the party would pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the families of youth who committed suicide for the Telangana cause. However, he said that the payment would be made after the elections.

Motkupalli accused Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao for being responsible for the suicide of over 700 youth in the name of Telangana agitation. He criticised KCR for not helping the families of ‘martyrs’ of Telangana. “It is a shame that KCR, who earned thousands of crores did not donate a single paisa to anyone,” he said.

Charging that TRS president had mortgaged Telangana movement to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for monetary benefits, the TDP leader said that KCR and his family members had become great ‘mamool collectors’ in the name of agitation. If KCR was really committed for the Telangana formation, he would have taken all people and parties under one platform to achieve the goal, he said.

The TDP leader also announced that he would launch Telangana Atma Gowrawa Padayatra from March 6 to 16th.
