Hyderabad, January 13 (INN): Telugu Desam Telangana Forum senior leader T Devender Goud on Thursday announced that the TDP would launch padayatra seeking national status for Pranihitha-Chevella projects on river Godavari.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of Forum leaders meeting held at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party office, Devender Goud said the party would take up padayatra from Chevella to Adilabad district on January 25. Slamming the state government for its failure to mount pressure on the Centre to get national status, he said that the project would solve drinking water and irrigation needs of the region.
Accusing the State Government of inaction, he said that the Forum would agitate till the Centre accords national status to the project.
Goud alleged that without even preparing the detailed project report the government had spent Rs 1120 crore on the project. When the projects in Uttar Pradesh could be accorded national status, he asked as to why the Centre was not according the same status to State projects.
The TDP leader called upon all political parties to support the padayatra to mount pressure on the Centre. He also appealed to the political parties not to politicize the issue for mileage.
Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao and MLAs from the region were present in the meeting. (INN)
