Film Actor and TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna on Wednesday said that the Telugu Desam Party was not against the formation of Telangana.
Talking to media persons after hoisting the National Flag at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital at Banjara Hills to mark 66th Independence Day celebrations, Balakrishna said that the party would stand by to the resolution on Telangana statehood made in the party manifesto. Stating that the party has already written a letter to the Centre over the Telangana issue, he said that the TDP was ready to give another letter favouring the Telangana state if the Centre needs.
Balakrishna also hailed party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s BC Declaration for allotting 100 seats for the community in the next assembly elections and categorisation of Scheduled Castes. Stating that he would continue as an active worker in the party, Balakrishna reiterated that he was ready to take up any responsibility in the party and would work to strengthen it.
The actor refused to comment on Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao’s resignation after CBI included his as an accused in the VANPIC case.
He also announced that his son Mokshagna would join Telugu industry after the completion of his studies.
