Hyderabad, September 25: Convinced that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is out to decimate the TDP cadres so that it could emerge the undisputed political formation in the future, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is now hitting back at TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The TDP is annoyed over the invisible hand of the Congress in encouraging Chandrasekhar Rao to set in motion a plan to destroy the yellow brigade in the Telangana districts. The TDP, which has been mauled in the recent byelections in Telangana districts, is trying to marshal its forces but the going is tough for it as the TRS is constantly trying to portray it as a betrayer of Telangana cause. The Congress is extending its help to the TRS since the objective of the TRS suits it as well elimination of Naidu as a potential leader in the future.
According to sources, the Congress is not unaware of the possibility of faring not very well in 2014 elections because of lack of a charismatic leader and the likelihood of internecine quarrels taking a toll on the party in the years to come. In such an eventuality, it is essential for the party that Chandrababu Naidu is cut down to size. The most logical way to do this is to work towards the goal from now on, by joining forces with the TRS. The TRS will be carrying out the battle from the front and together they will realise the objective of marginalising Naidu.
On the one hand Chandrasekhar Rao keeps targeting Chandrababu Naidu painting him as inimical to the interests of Telangana and on the other engineer defection of TDP cadres into the TRS.
The TDP, which has understood the gameplan of the TRSCongress, is now trying to set its own house in order. As soon as Chandrasekhar Rao hit out at Chandrababu Naidu for his alleged remark that the TRS chief was daydreaming about Telangana, the TDP came out with a sharp reaction, even stooping to the level of making personal accusations against Rao. It has been decided that the crusade against the TRS would be led by N Janardhan Reddy. At the moment, the T camp in the TDP is busy trying to find skeletons in Chandrasekhar Rao’s cupboard to expose him in the eyes of the public. They are trying to project Rao as one out to exploit Telangana movement for his personal and family’s gain.
