A delegation of TDP MPs today met Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking transfer of three more villages from Telangana to residual Andhra Pradesh for smooth execution of Polavaram Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project.
The meeting comes a day after a bill to allow merging of some villages and mandals of Telangana with Seemandhra in a bid to deal with resettlement and rehabilitation those displaced by the Polavaram project was introduced in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
“Three villages Burgampadu, Seetaramanagaram and Kondreka villages, now in Khammam district, must be transferred to Seemandhra for Polavaram Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project,” TDP leader in the Lok Sabha Thota Narasimham said.
The three villages were also vital for the project and the Centre must come forward to re-amend the bill to facilitate the inclusion of these villages, he added.
Singh had yesterday introduced the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2014, in the Lok Sabha.
The bill aims at facilitating smooth resettlement and rehabilitation on part of the project. It will facilitate land-for-land in the same revenue division where people will be displaced.
Politicians from Khammam district of Telangana region were demanding that Polavaram submergence areas in Bhadrachalam revenue division should not be merged with Seemandhra region.
