TDP MLC Rajakumari climbs atop TDLP building, threatens to jump

TDP senior leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Tuesday created commotion by climbing atop the TDP Legislature Party building on the Assembly premises.

Demanding that the State government solve the prevailing severe power crisis, the TDP leaders launched a protest on the Assembly premises. The party leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Revanth Reddy, Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao and several other legislators participated in the agitation program.

Speaking on the occasion, the TDP leaders alleged that the farming community in the State was facing hardships due to power cut and demanded that the government ensure seven-hour uninterrupted power supply to the farmers. They alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government was only talking about the power crisis, but not caring to solve the problem.

Demanding that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy convene an all-party meeting on the power crisis immediately, the TDP leaders have chosen to stage dharna right inside the Assembly as the police denied permission to stage dharna at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the premises.

At this juncture, Nannapaneni Rajakumari climbed atop the TDP Legislature Party building on and launched her protest. She caused sensation by saying that she would jump down from the building if the Chief Minister failed to give a categorical assurance on solving the power crisis.

However, she relented when the party leaders cajoled her and brought her down. But the commotion on the Assembly premises continued for some time.

Speaking to the media, Nannapaneni said that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government remained cool and indifferent though her party has been agitating against the power problem for some time. She said that she wanted to stay atop the TDLP building till 5 pm to stage her protest.

Rajakumari also demanded that the government convene all-party meeting and call emergency Assembly session to discuss the burning problem. She also demanded that they should be allowed to stage dharna at the Gandhi statue. The TDP leaders raised slogans against the police and the government.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister responded to the TDP agitation and assured to initiate immediate steps to solve the power crisis. The TDP leaders suggested to the Chief Minister to concentrate on non-conventional energy sources.
