Hyderabad, December 21 (INN): Telugu Desam Party MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao and other leaders on Tuesday called upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the State Secretariat demanding release of water for the areas under the first and second phases of Sriram Sagar Project.
Talking to reporters Errabelli said that the TDP leaders have demanded that the government immediately release water for the SRSP areas falling in Warangal and Nalgonda districts. He said due to government’s negligence the farmers in those areas could not get water during Rabi season. However, he said the farmers would not be able to cultivate their crops in Khariff season if water is not released immediately.
The Chief Minister has reportedly assured the TDP delegation that he would take necessary action after consulting the officials concerned. However, Errabelli threatened that the TDP activists would demolish the canal if water was not released within a week.
Later, TDP’s Dornakal MLA Satyavathi Rathore and her followers met the Chief Minister requesting him to allot land for the proposed Railway Wagon workshop near Kazipet Railway Station. She pointed out that nearly 100 acres of land belonging to the Railway Ministry was available near Kazipet and the same could be utilised for the construction of workshop.
Satyavathi said that the workshop would provide employment to hundreds of youth in the area and help in the economic development of the Warangal district. The Chief Minister assured her that he would take up the matter with the Ministry of Railways. (INN)
