A case has been registered against Vemur legislator Nakka Anand Babu of TDP and four of his followers under section 353 of IPC for slapping a revenue official.
The case was registered following a complaint lodged by a junior assistant, Ch Srinivasa Rao. According to sources, legislator Anand Babu staged a dharna in front of the MRO’s office in protest against the deletion of names of party supporters from the electoral rolls. He argued with office staff of the tahsildar that they had deliberately removed names of TDP activists under pressure from ruling party leaders. The MLA then allegedly slapped the junior assistant when the latter tried to intervene.
