Hyderabad: In yet another blow to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ahead of the 2019 general elections, its former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Modugula Venugopala Reddy joined the YSR Congress Party on Saturday.
Reddy was inducted into the party in the presence of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, among others.
An ex-MLA from Guntur West, Reddy entered politics in 2008 through the Praja Rajyam Party, and a year later, joined the TDP.
In 2014, Reddy emerged victorious from Guntur West Assembly seat and has been an MLA, since then.
Reddy’s stint with the TDP, which spanned over 10 years, came to an end when he tendered his resignation on March 4.
This is the third leader to have quit TDP and joined the YSRCP this week.
On Friday, Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, a senior leader from Kurnool district, joined the YSRCP.
A day ahead of this, another TDP MLA and actress Jayasudha had joined the Jagan Reddy-led party along with her son Nihar Kapoor.
