TDP, MIM have wordy duel in Assembly

The main Opposition TDP and MIM members today locked in heated arguments during discussion on Telangana bill in the Assembly.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said Hyderabad was developed like Singapore by previous TDP government in nine years whereas erstwhile Nizam government developed only Secunderabad during 400 years. “We brought about development which was not done by Nizam in 400 years”, he said, adding that the city used to witness communal violence and curfew now and then. It was the TDP government that maintained law and order effectively, Naidu said.

Reacting to Naidu’s remark, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said Rayalaseema region remained undeveloped due to negligence of ruling party leaders of that region who ruled the State for many years. Seemandhra leaders came to the city because Hyderabad was a developed city, Owaisi said. At one point, the MIM leader raised about electoral alliance between BJP and TDP which was opposed by members of both the parties. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu recently called on Narendra Modi, who was responsible for Godhra massacre, he added.

Objecting to Owaisi’s remark, TDP member Revanth Reddy took exception and said nobody will have any objection if members talk about Telangana Bill, but it was not proper to leveled allegations against Chandrababu Naidu utilizing the opportunity.

The way Akbaruddin was talking construed that Godhra was the only incident occurred in the country. TDP had condemned the Godhra incident. When late Channa Reddy was chief minister, hundreds were killed in communal violence. Was not MIM party, which had an understanding with YSR of Congress party, responsible for communal riots? He also pointed out that MIM did not come forward to make Abdul Kalam as President of India, Revant Reddy added. (NSS)
