TDP Members Boycott Assembly—Oppn Voice Stifled, they say

TDP Telangana MLAs today boycotted the Assembly proceeding alleging that the government is trying to stifle the voices of opposition party.

Speaking to press persons at media point in the Assembly premises, party state working president A Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkat Veeriah said the assembly proceedings are being held as per the whims and fancies of the government.       They said the party has written a letter to the Speaker bringing to his notice about the injustice being done towards party members in the house.  They said TDP legislators are boycotting the Assembly as the government is showing partisan attitude towards the party and not giving opportunity to express their views on people’s issues.

The TDP leaders termed as undemocratic and violation of the constitution the way the Land Acquisition Bill was passed in the house yesterday.

The party, in its letter signed by A Revanth Reddy, Venkat Veraiah and R Krishniah, expressed concern that the Speaker did not protect the rights of members in the house. In spite of reminders of injustice to TDP MLAs in the house, there is no change in the situation and the members are being subjected to injustice by not allowing proper time in the house.

In the letter, the party questioned whether the Bill passed yesterday is a new one or an Amendment to the 2013 Act.  The house should be conducted as per the spirit of the constitution and to meet the aspirations of the people, it said.(NSS)
