TDP legislator threatens to commit suicide

Vijayawada, December 17: A tense situation prevailed at the Zilla Parishad Guest house here following a suicide threat by a TDP legislator, who is on a ‘fast-unto-death’ over united Andhra Pradesh issue.

TDP Mylavaram legislator Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who was observing the fast since last five days, threatened to commit suicide if the fast was broken by the police.

The TDP MLA along with Party State Secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao were inside a room of the guest house after locking it from inside, not allowing doctors to give treatement for them as their health condition worsened today.

Sensing that the police would marred their fast, they left the fasting venue and went inside the room with party activists and continued the fast there.

Meanwhile, a TDP activist tried to self-immolate when the police tried to enter the guest house. However, he was prevented from committing suicide by the party activists.

The doctors were still waiting outside the room for giving treatement to them.

But, the police announced that they would foil the fast by breaking the room if the doctors were not allowed inside.
