TDP leaders elected in 5 municipalities of Krishna dist

Ten TDP leaders were elected here today for the post of the chairman and vice-chairman of the five municipalities of Krishna district, while six YSRCP leaders held the posts in the three municipalities.

The TDP leaders were elected in Machilipatnam, Pedana, Tiruvur, Nandigama and Vuyyuru municipalities, whereas YSRCP leaders will head the posts in Gudivada, Nuziveed and Jaggaihpet municipalities.

Meanwhile, TDP leader Koneru Sridhar was elected as the Vijayawada mayor here yesterday, and partyman Gogula Ramana Rao as deputy mayor.

It could be noted that the indirect elections of ward councillors were held on March 30 this year, results of which were declared on May 12.

However, the Andhra Pradesh Election Commission withheld the result, following orders of the Supreme Court orders, citing result should be announced only after completion of both Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections.

The result of ward councillor was convened by the Election Commission today, who further elected the the chairman and vice-chairman of the civic body today.
