The main Opposition Telugu Desam party on Sunday charged the Congress high command with sending its emissaries to the State frequently for “pleasure trips” and nothing else.
Speaking to media persons in the TDLP office on the Assembly premises, TDP senior leader Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy said that though the UPA government had declared 875 mandals in the State as drought affected, it failed to initiate minimum drought relief measures for the affected farmers.
The TDP leader lambasted the UPA chairperson for not caring to visit Andhra Pradesh for wiping tears of the affected farmers. He also lashed out at Sonia Gandhi for visiting the BJP-ruled Karnataka for assessing drought situation there and not caring to visit her party-ruled Andhra Pradesh on the same issue.
Alleging that Sonia Gandhi likes to participate in inaugural functions with much fan fare, the TDP leader asked as to why the Congress supremo was not visiting Andhra Pradesh where drought affected farmers and Telangana youths were committing suicides for separate Telangana. (NSS)
