TDP keen to play active role in national politics: Devender Goud

Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP T Devender Goud on Sunday said that he Telugu Desam Party was keen to play an active role in the national politics.

Talking to reporters after meeting TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at latter’s residence, Devender Goud said that the TDP would resume its role as a key player in the national politics before the Presidential elections. He said he has discussed with Naidu on how to activate the party at the national level as the party has been playing a major role in the national politics since its inception.

Further, Devender Goud said that he also discussed with Naidu on the public issues to be raised in Rajya Sabha after he takes oath as a member on April 24. He said that the TDP would take up issues related to Andhra Pradesh in the Parliament and would try to represent various problems being faced by people in the national forums.

Regarding Vizianagaram controversy, Devender Goud said that he had been a Home Minister and never tried to suppress the voice of opposition. He said that it wrong on the part of Vizianagaram police to deny permission to the TDP to hold dharna. He said the district police could have changed the dates or venues to allow TDP’s dharna. (INN)
