TDP joins DGP bashing wagon

Hyderabad, January 01: TDP on Saturday slammed DGP V Dinesh Reddy for what it called the uncharitable comments on women attire, which has drawn heavy flak.

The party president, N Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily on the irrational comments of the DGP who blamed the provocative dress of women for increasing rape cases in the state.

Terming the remarks as irresponsible, unwarranted and unfortunate from a person holding such a high office, Naidu told reporters on the New Year eve briefing that people in high offices should shun such remarks.

He appealed to the IPS and IAS officials to take lessons from the incident and to be cautious in future in their public utterances.

The remark created a furore across the country with woman organisations and others reacting sharply. Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram too had to react to it saying that there cannot be moral policing. (INN)
