TDP to hold dharna in Delhi on February 9

Hyderabad, January 31: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) along with other like-minded parties will organise a massive dharna in Delhi on February 9 against price rise.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu held an all-party meeting at his residence here today to chalk out the programmes.

CPM, CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc leaders attended the meeting.

Speaking to reporters later, Naidu said that nine parties have decided to participate in the Delhi dharna on price rise. CPM, CPI, JD(S), AIADMK, BJD, AIFB, RLD, RSP and TDP would take part in the dharna to be held in Delhi on Feb 9, Naidu said.

TDP and the Left parties will also organise week-long protest rallies across the state against price rise beginning February 3.

Denouncing the petroprice hike, Naidu said that the actual cost of petrol per litre was just Rs 20 to 25. But, the state and the Central governments were imposing taxes to the tune of Rs 40 to 45 taking the total cost to Rs 66, Naidu said.

The increase in petro price would spur the transport charges resulting in the increase of prices of pulses and vegetables. Already the food inflation has increased considerably. But, the Centre did not even contemplate to regulate the prices, Naidu alleged.
