Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today demanded the government to return the lands, acquired for the establishment of Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Port and Industrial Corridor (VANPIC) and assured the support of the TDP for the agitating farmers. Addressing the farmers at Nizampatnam in the district, he alleged that 29,000 acres were acquired from the farmers for setting up of VANPIC which was mired in controversies.
The lands were acquired from the farmers at a cheaper price and they were being sold at higher prices, he alleged. He said the struggle for the lands would continue by the farmers, until justice is meted out to them. If false cases were registered against the agitating farmers, the TDP would oppose it vehemently, he warned.
‘We are not against for the development but opposing only the acquisition of lands indiscriminately from the poor farmers by paying meager compensation. Why 29,00 acres of land was needed for the establishment of VANPIC,’ the former Chief Minister asked. More UNI
